“It’s not like the movies. But for a lot of people — that’s all they’ve ever seen.”
— Justin, Veteran

A National Movement
Rewrite the Narrative is a transformative campaign aimed at reshaping how America perceives veterans, trauma, and resilience. By engaging communities and media, it challenges harmful stereotypes and promotes understanding and unity. This movement empowers individuals to share their stories and fosters a culture that values truth and empathy. Together, we can replace stigma with strength and build a supportive environment for our nation's heroes.

The Misrepresentation Crisis
Headlines often portray active-duty military and veterans with PTSD as unstable, violent, or broken — fueling fear, stigma, and silence.
The National Security Threat
Foreign adversaries weaponize trauma narratives, using veteran disinformation to divide Americans, weaken trust, and threaten national security.
The Civilian-Military Divide
Most Americans are disconnected from those who serve, deepening mistrust, isolation, and missed opportunities for healing, leadership, and unity.

“Civilians believe what the media tells them. And if Hollywood keeps telling the same broken story, that’s what people will believe.”
— Albert, Army Veteran

The Reality
-
Only 12% of Americans know someone who is serving. That means most civilians form their view of veterans from media, not real life. When the portrayal is negative, it creates distance, fear, and disconnect.
-
Over 30% of media portrayals link veterans to violence or instability. Hollywood still relies on the “broken vet” trope — reinforcing fear, not truth.
-
47% of post-9/11 veterans report difficulty reintegrating. That’s because systems, stories, and support are outdated or based on false assumptions. Families carry the weight without understanding, and communities stay disconnected. This is creating a generation of veterans who served their country, came home — and were culturally abandoned.
-
44% of employers don’t believe veterans have the right experience — blocking opportunities before they begin. This leads to unemployment, underemployment, and financial instability, especially during reintegration.

Our Response
Rewrite the Narrative is a first-of-its-kind national movement to reset how America understands veterans, trauma, and mental health — by changing the story at the source.
We work at the intersection of media, culture, and community — mobilizing veterans, creators, and partners to correct false narratives, fight disinformation, and replace stigma with strength. Our work builds toward the Golden Victor Awards, a national event honoring those leading the cultural shift.
This isn’t just a campaign — it’s a coordinated push to take back the truth and build a better future for those who served.

The Golden Victor Awards: Chapter 1
The Golden Victor Awards is the powerful culmination of the Rewrite the Narrative campaign — a night that honors truth, resilience, and those rewriting the national story around PTSD and mental health.
This high-profile gala brings together a coalition of veterans, first responders, creators, filmmakers, corporate leaders, and policymakers — united across industries to break stigma, bridge the divide, and drive cultural change.
But this is just the beginning.
The energy of this night launches the next chapter — fueling new alliances, bold storytelling, and a movement that lives far beyond the spotlight.
The campaign doesn’t end here. It ignites here.
