About Kelly

As an entertainment and nonprofit professional with extensive experience in talent booking, production, the creation of live events and business operations/development, program and general management, Darr is a seasoned veteran in various aspects of the industry.

She joined the GRAMMY Foundation in 2001 and previously held executive and consultant positions with Women In
Film, ImageDirect, and Cristiani Productions; and served as Vice President of Administration and Management Advisory Services for Virgin Records, its 3 sub-labels and Convent Studio. As the GRAMMY Foundation’s Senior Director of Programs and Events, Darr worked with the education team and oversaw all legacy initiatives, Living Histories (producer of over 150 interviews with industry icons), live events, the grant program, artist campaigns and relations, various fundraising initiatives, sponsor/business development, the SoundChecks national mentoring program, and content, while supporting various productions including the GRAMMY Awards and Advocacy/Hill activities.

In 2016, she was tapped by the Recording Academy President and CPC to become their first Managing Director of Artist Relations, Special Projects and Events, to establish, oversee and streamline artist relations and bookings for all sectors (the Academy and chapter affiliates, GRAMMY Museum, Latin GRAMMYs, and MusiCares) while focusing on the operational integrity of outreach and process, booking and/or casting hundreds of celebrities/artists/industry
professionals throughout her tenure. In 2018, she was recruited as the producer of MusiCares’ Person of the Year event for Dolly Parton (the third highest grossing event in the Foundation’s history, and first streaming project with Netflix). In 2019, she assumed a more official role with MusiCares as Vice President of Events and Fundraising (while also maintaining the role of Managing Director of Artist Relations for the Academy); in this role, she contributed to raising unprecedented funding of over $20 million to aid the music community during the COVID pandemic, oversaw all auction activities and produced the annual Person of the Year tribute to Aerosmith.

She currently serves as Sr. Advisor of Special Projects and Producer for Fashion 4 Development, which is a UN
partnership initiative focused on women’s empowerment, sustainability, preserving culture, and other UN Millennium
Development Goals.

Among past and present special projects or volunteer efforts, she participated in the Fox Mentoring Program, served on the IDA Blue Ribbon Committee for Music Documentaries, committee member for Best DirectHer and has supported various charities throughout her career.
